Sensors and Automation for Biofloc Aquaculture

  • Maseno University · Department of Animal and Fisheries Sciences
  • Maseno University
  • Led by Code & Circuit team

We looked at the department’s biofloc system and explored bringing together sensors for the water-quality parameters that matter most, real-time data acquisition, automation and remote monitoring.

Thanks to Erick Ogello (PhD), the department reaffirmed its readiness to provide scientific and technical support as we explore potential collaborations.

3D Printing at the Holiday STEM Camp

  • Riley Orton Foundation · Akili STEM Arts Academy Holiday STEM Camp
  • Kenya
  • Led by Rabin Yitzahk

Our team ran a hands-on 3D printing workshop for students at the Riley Orton Foundation’s Holiday STEM Camp, led by Rabin Yitzahk.

Students designed 3D models on laptops and saw how a 3D printer turns a digital design into a physical object, with Rabin walking the group through the printer up close and coaching students one on one at their screens.

About Riley Orton Foundation

The Riley Orton Foundation, through its Akili STEM Arts Academy, empowers marginalized children and youth in rural Western Kenya with access to education, life skills, and technology. Its school-based programs and holiday STEM camps introduce students to coding, robotics, AI, 3D printing, and other emerging technologies, with a focus on gender equity and sustainable community development.

Field Visit: IoT Automation at AquaRech

  • AquaRech LTD · Farm visit
  • Kenya
  • Led by Code & Circuit team

Our team toured AquaRech’s lined ponds, many divided into grids of hapa nets, and walked through the greenhouse hatchery, where hatching jars, pumps, a sand filter and a pressure tank keep water moving and clean.

Seeing IoT automation running on a working Kenyan fish farm showed where sensors and automation earn their place: they keep watching when nobody is standing at the pond edge.
